PIXTA from Japan signed MoU with School of Applied Mathematics and Informatics, Hanoi University of Science and Technology to carry out collaborative researches about Machine learning and computer vision.
PIXTA VIETNAM and School of Applied Mathematics and Informatics(SAMI), a part of Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to carry out collaborative researches about machine learning and computer vision on April 18, 2019.
PIXTA VIETNAM is an R&D center of Japanese firm PIXTA Inc. and has LAB Team which researches about machine learning. In the collaborative research, LAB Team professors and students of SAMI will work with each other to research and implement AI on over 40 million high quality and high resolution images from Pixtastock. According to the cooperation, we expect the improvement of search accuracy and user experiences on our website. Moreover, we try that not only in PIXTA VIETNAM but also outsiders can use the AI. Finally, we brush up its own machine learning technology and contribute to employ and raise high level IT human resource in Vietnam through this collaborative research.

Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) was established in 1956 as the first technology university in Vietnam. The university has about 40,000 undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degree students (data in 2018: 37,200 students). Now HUST is conducting collaborative research and projects with other universities, research institutions, and educational institutions all over the world. Their achievement caught many countries’ attention and help them gradually become one of the top universities in Vietnam.
While the number of engineers have high level of techniques has been increasing and the level of university has been improved in Vietnam in recent years, many of them have not reached, researched and implemented high techniques yet. The reason mainly because almost of all engineers are entrusted development of Offshore. PIXTA VIETNAM wants to develop more their own business by utilizing potential of Vietnamese engineers and contribute to raise Vietnamese high level IT human resources. That is why they decided to implement the cooperative research with Hanoi University of Science and Technology.
PIXTA VIETNAM will conduct researches and developments of high quality image AI in medium and long term as below.
Automated tag annotation for over 40 million images
We will make the automatic system which adds tags needed for purchasers to retrieve materials when creators upload their video materials on Pixtastock. Moreover, we improve the information accuracy by adding importance ranking automatically to picture and illustration materials which we have already researched results.
Pixtastock has over 40 million photos, illustrations, video materials, and data related to those of materials, so we analyze that data and make use of them. According to the automatic system, not only we realize that creators can sell their materials more efficiently but also purchasers can find materials matched their needs better because the search accuracy on Pixtastock will improve.

The prediction of well-selling materials We will establish the prediction system of well-selling images based on customer’s data and image analyzation. According to the system, we expect that creators can efficiently produce materials which are matched to market needs. Moreover, purchasers will be able to find image materials easier because they can check retrieval results based on their past buying and behavioral data.
The providing of high quality image AI for outsides We will provide the high quality image AI of PIXTA as a service for not only in our company but also outsiders.
The strengthening of cooperation with SAMI We will strengthen the cooperation with SAMI as an official partner by receiving internships and sponsoring some contests of SAMI.
PIXTA VIETNAM was established as the first overseas R&D center of PIXTA Inc. on May, 2016. They are mainly in charge of research and development for Pixtastock, in specific are 3 main responsibilities.

Although PIXTA VIETNAM are having many excellent software engineers, they are still planning to seek for more potential software engineers in the future. In addition, it provides abundant Asian materials which follow lifestyles and cultures of many Asian countries, mainly Japanese one. Now Pixtastock provides services in English, simplified Chinese characters and traditional Chinese characters, Thai and Korean.
